It was a warm Friday evening in March with a record-breaking 17 people registered for our Karaoke night – this was an event we’d never done before at Three Connections, and I think we found gold with this one!
Our friends volunteered to either sing solo or a duet, and could pick any song they liked (granted, it was on Youtube!) and the suggestions just came flooding in. All 17 of our friends got up in front of one another and song their favourite tunes to their heart’s content – even D’Lene and Jessica stepped up to the mic! The crowd was so supportive and raucous as everyone sang and danced along.
Love was definitely in the air with one of our favourite couples Patrick and Brigette singing Ed Sheeran’s heart warming love song “Perfect”. Following on, another Three Connections couple, Perri and Mitchell, slayed Selena Gomez’s “I Love You Like A Love Song”. Best friends Celeste and Mitchell rocked out to “Mr Brightside” by the Killers which got everyone playing their air guitars. Our biggest Green Day fan Eleanor brought us a fantastic cover of “Boulevard of Broken Dreams” whilst Kaan got us twisting and grooving with Guy Sebastian’s “Like It Like That”. Powerhouse rock chicks Cristina and Brigette sang Queen’s iconic power ballad “We Are The Champions” whilst Aleisha and Perri got poppy with Meghan Trainor’s “No Excuses”. Patrick and Ethan continued the Queen stream with “We Will Rock You” whilst Caitlin and D’Lene brought a change of pace with ABBA’s “Fernando”! Evan performed his favourite song “Can’t Stop The Feeling” by Justin Timberlake and showed off his smooth moves! Lucas and Jessica became Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga in their rendition of “Shallow” from A Star is Born, and Anna showed us her favourite song “Baby I’m Yours”.
We can safely say that many stars were born on Friday, and we cannot wait to sing along with everybody again on our next Karaoke evening. Want to join us?
