Camp Kachow!

Yet another successful ‘first’ for Three Connections – Camp Kachow! In February, 6 girls embarked on a weekend away with D’Lene and Tara to Cowes for some sea breeze and spectacular adventures.

Jessica and the parents waved goodbye to the 12-seater minibus that took Perri, Brigette, Catherine, Anna, Caitlin and Aleisha on Friday afternoon off to their destination. Having arrived at Hollydene House – D’Lene’s property in the heart of Cowes – the girls earnt a delicious warm Spaghetti Bolognaise meal before settling into their rooms and relaxing in the many shared living spaces the house has to offer. Cards, boardgames, movies, and even a pool table, no one would be getting bored in this house!

On Saturday morning, the girls put themselves straight into the kitchen to prepare their own breakfast of bacon and eggs – how very independent! Then, they jumped back onto the minibus to drive down to San Remo for fish and chips and pelican feeding. Perri astounded us with her magical connection to the pelicans, earning her the title of “The Pelican Whisperer”. It wouldn’t be an iconic trip to Phillip Island without a windy walk along the Nobbies boardwalk afterwards. The girls then travelled to Stacey’s studio for a private art workshop – Stacey is a local artist whose work incredibly encapsulates the everchanging landscapes of the island. We have some talented painters in our Three Connections community who aren’t afraid to get their hands dirty! The workshop concluded with a spontaneous dance party to some of the girls’ favourite songs. We rounded our night off with a super social dinner the at the Phillip Island RSL then back to Hollydene house for winding down after a huge day of activities.

Sunday morning consisted of preparing breakfast, preparing ourselves for the day and exploring the local surrounds of Hollydene House, including the foreshore, pier and beach (there were cute puppies involved too!)

Everyone’s mini-golfing skills were put to the test at Grumpy’s Crazy Mini-Golf before a BBQ lunch back at Hollydene House. Our weekend flew by so quickly, we could barely believe we had to pack up and head home!

It can be safely stated that Three Connections’ Camp Kachow was a huge success. The girls’ were beaming when they returned home and we’ve heard so many requests for another one soon! Stay tuned for more camp news as 2021 progresses!
