With the year now thoroughly in it's groove, we've seen our participants at 3C show absolute confidence in who they are and what they can do - and let me tell you, it is contagious!
We opened up our month with Video Game Night, where participants brought their remotes, consoles and games and played together. There are definitely some very confident gamers in our midst such as Nick and Patrick, but what was really special was the participants who rustled up some confidence to give the video games a try, like Lucas! Video Game Nights at 3C are always nicely chilled out and certainly get the laughs going.
The confidence amongst our participants soared the following week with our Fashion Week event - participants brought their favourite outfit that made them feel a million dollars. Jess and Liv then opened up a make-up and hair salon and worked with the participants to achieve their final looks. Celebrating everyone's individuality and confidence made the centre sparkle, so we decided to capture these moments in a special photoshoot (I will post the whole gallery, it's a must-see!) Better than the Met Gala in my opinion! We sincerely hope everyone felt special and confident, because they sure looked it!
After a well deserved Easter break, we came back together to celebrate with an Easter Party (an annual event that we all look forward to!) Participants dressed up in creative Easter garb and we danced the night away to our favourite tunes (you should see everyone get down to Flo Rida's "Low", Peter's squat is the best for sure!) It wouldn't be an Easter party without an Easter hunt, and the downstairs Kindergarten provided many nooks and crannies to stuff some chocolate in. Lucas was our Easter Egg winner, and Lily was our best dressed winner - this young lass went out and bought an entire rabbit onesie just for this event. Double weekend alert! Straight after our Easter Party on Friday, we were treated to an exciting outing on Saturday at Forest Hill Chase for some Bowling! Now this is where the confidence REALLY shone through from our participants, who are all very skilled bowlers. It was awesome to have a new participant Keean join us this Saturday. He truly showed us the ropes when it came to Bowling! The Johnson brothers were a dangerous combo, striking pins left right and centre, and Perri became queen of the ramp, knocking them all down! Many strikes were had and many laughs were had. We love our outings!
For our final week of April, we brought back an event that was cancelled earlier in the year due to Covid complications - and boy, are we glad we brought it back! For our Greatest Showman sing-a-long, we all gathered together on comfy bean bags and couches with the rain pouring outside. Everyone sang their hearts out to the amazing soundtrack of a movie that is ALL about celebrating confidence and individuality. If you haven't seen it yet, it's a must, as it hits home for a lot of people in our community - "This is me!"
